The Breath Holding Competion

On the 18th of February 2014 rm 3 had a breath holding Competition.  We did it in the school pool.
Dougie and Robyn made it to the end.  The rest of us reached half way or a little bit further. If your head came up to the surface you had to stop there and stay in your spot and go to the side of the pool.

My New BMX Bike!

On the 20th of February me and my family went to Bike Barn and got a new BMX bike.  But the Bike Barn counter man said that we have to get my Redline BMX Bike next week on Tuesday and then I'll be alright for the rest of the next 10 years hopefully. And I'm testing it out is well after school and we have to pick it up then were taking it to Lloyd Elsmore BMX track to test it out.  Ok time to get to the description, it is a USA crossed BMX bike.  The crossed bike is a jumping/racing so it will be cool at the BMX track.

Round Robin Sports

Senior School and Montessori have round robin sports every Friday at 2.15pm.  Room 3 have two teams called Strikers and Southern Storm.  There are two teams per class, every teacher has a summer sport that they chose and the sports are touch, non stop cricket, long run and softball.  Also every child in the senior school and montessori have to wear P.E. gear.  You can have no shoes or you can wear sports shoes.

Each Teacher will pick a player of the day for good sportsmanship and great skills.  Good sportsmanship means to encourage your teammates, be supportive, helpful and be fair.  You have to do all of these things to get a team with loads of good sportsmanship players.  If it rains we don't do any sports but we do go into the hall to do an activity about something so we don't get bored.  So we get to do something every Friday.

Do a skit

And more

We will do it every afternoon after lunch on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday We can discuss the plan during iSnack.

Group Points

In room 3 this year we will have group points this is how it works.

First we picked our group names and they are:

  1. Pineapple
  2. Kidz
  3. Minecraft
  4. Minions
  5. Boys
We get group points from doing the right thing at the right time. At the end of the week Miss Lister gets a student to count the group points. Whatever group wins they get 10 minuets free time the next Monday.  But the others have to do work.

Our Job Was Harder Than We Thought!

When I was on sports trolley in the junior school I found it hard.  Because everybody threw stuff at the trolley.  So I band them.  Only for the day!!!   Annalise got so MAD!!!!  Blake was not as mad!

Mr . Cuddles

Mr Cuddles.

Mr Cuddles is our class toy.  He goes to different people.  When we get him we have to write in a book.  He is very cute and cuddly.  On Monday when we have to bring him back we have to read what we wrote in the book and we need to draw a picture. He loves rainbows.  Everyone likes him.  He likes room 3 the most.  He looks fond to Fridays so he can get to know the person he is going to.

The Amazing Dream Tree

Our room has an awesome colourful Dream Tree. If you don't know what's the dream tree, im going to tell you in a moment. Our dream tree is a tree that we put our amazing social goal and our academic.

We all decide our goal with a special poem.
S.M.A.R.T.
Goals
Specific
Who, What, When, Where, Why and How?
Measurable
How would you know when you are done.
Attainable
Is it realistic.
Relevant
How does it fit your life.
Time-Bound
When will you achieve your goal?
When's your deadline?
Here's a picture of our dream tree and
the goal making poem.

Room 3's Start to the Year

In room 3 lately we have been doing swimming, Maths, Learning focused realationships and writing!!

During swimming time I have been sitting out because I didn't have a swimming cap but just yesterday I got one!!!! I've only been swimming once but it doesn't matter because it was fun when I did swim. We were practising different parts of freestyle so we can become brilliant.  We needed to put our ear on our shoulder while we hold onto a flutterboard.  The other arm needed to be on our side.  Our whole body was sideways. It was hard at the start but at the end I still found it hard.

Now for Maths.  During Maths we have been doing graphs (bar graphs) When we do we the bar graphs we were split in to groups of 3.  And of we went to go work.  My group was Natalia, Blake and I.  We were the first one to finish.
This is what it looked like.

Now for the important one Learning Focused Relationships is just to help know everyone.
Last but not least Writing. Lately during writing we have been drafting stories e.g. Acrostic poems with people names like this one.

(If you have been reading this blog I would likes to say thank you for taking your time to read this oh yea dont forget its valintines day!!!!)

The Dinosaur Library

Wow, the library is so cool.  Susie set the library like a dinosaur cave. She made a secret tunnel that led us to the  bookshelves.  Their were heaps of dinosaur pictures and even more dinosaur books.
It felt like like we were in the dinosaurs world.  We really liked the dinosaur decorations.  The book shelf looked so cool because there were lots of different kinds of dinosaur pictures.  I can't wait to see what theme it will be the next time.
We think it would be magnificent if she did a movie theatre in there next time.

Room 3 Goals

Everyone was wondering what we were doing. Miss Lister read out the instructions. Then she gave us a leaf to trace. When we did that we cut the leave out and ruled lines. After that we had to write 2 goals. 1 was for a subject (not maths yet). The other was for 1 of our words from the class treaty. When we were done Miss lister stapled them on our dream tree. Then we were done.

The Brain Filling Education

This week we learnt to make a post card about the holidays to myself. Making a postcard was quite challenging because we you don't often write a postcard to yourself.  It ended up being nearly perfect.  We felt proud.

This week has been challenging for the the new year 5 students because their are new rules and ways they need to learn.  It is different in the senior school compared to the junior and middle.  They are doing pretty fine.

We found out that the furtherest breath holdersfor swimming in the class were Robyn, Dougie and Anthony. We all needed to go under the water as far as you can and try to touch the wall on the other side of the pool.  All of Room 3 is really exited about the swimming carnival.

Room 3 also made our 2014 class treaty like the treaty of Waitangi. It's really important to follow the class treaty and never break the rules. Room 3s treaty was made so all the room 3 children could do as it said and so that Room 3 could be the best they can. Good manners means a better future.

A Postcard to Lukas

To Lukas

When I got to Jump, me and my sister had to wait 15 minutes because we were early.

As soon as I got in, I went straight to the foam pit. There was a rope you could hold on to and do a big swing into the pit. Weee!! Then I got stuck <great>.

Five minuets later when I got out of the foam pit I went to the dodgeball area.  At first I was the only kid there and it stayed that way, which was perfect.

Times up! I was sad that I had to go. I had so much fun!.

From Lukas

A Postcard to Myself

We swam in the beach and had a picnic there.I was sad when we left because I had sooooo much fun.I hope we can go there again.

Love Natalia.
